01What the Life Path Number is
Your Life Path Number is the most important number in your chart. It points to the road you're on, your natural strengths and the biggest lesson of your life. A Life Path can be any number from 1 to 9, or 10, 11 or 22.
02Three steps
- Step 1: Add the digits of your birth day until you have a single digit. Do the same with your birth month and your birth year.
- Step 2: Add those three numbers together.
- Step 3: If the total is more than 9, add its digits again. Stop when you reach a single digit, or when you reach 10, 11 or 22 (these are kept as they are).
Example: born 15 August 1994
- Day 15 → 1 + 5 = 6
- Month August (8) → 8
- Year 1994 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 4 = 23 → 2 + 3 = 5
- Add them: 6 + 8 + 5 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10
= Life Path 10 (kept as 10/1, not reduced further to 1)
Example: born 29 November 1990
- Day 29 → 2 + 9 = 11 → 1 + 1 = 2
- Month November (11) → 1 + 1 = 2
- Year 1990 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1
- Add them: 2 + 2 + 1 = 5
= Life Path 5
Did you know?
In the first example, the total was 19 before it became 10. Nineteen is a Karmic Debt number, so this person also has Karmic Debt 19 in their chart. One number, several layers of meaning: that's why the full report reads the whole chain of the calculation, not just the final number.
03Why calculate each part separately
There are several methods in use. Reducing the day, month and year separately before adding them keeps the meaning of each part of your birth date and correctly picks up the special numbers 10, 11 and 22. The free calculator on this site uses this rule.
